Over the few years there has been many construction of roads to the remote villages but they are all dirt roads and locals can’t use them throughout the year. The walk is interesting with beautiful landscape and few settlements in between until you reach your destination for today at Sherpagaon, village named after inhabited by Sherpa Community.

The walk today will become more interesting with the sight of Jannu Himal atop the ridge along with sight of Kanchenjunga, Kumbakarna and Kabru Peaks while walking through thick rhododendron forest. Final leg of today's walk is an easy descend on the gentle sloping path which continues almost to the riverbed of the Simbua Khola. The initial part of the descend from the ridge has landslides in between so need to take good care and walk in the group for the safety. From the bank of Simbua Khola, continue with a short climb for a while along the left bank and then cross over to the right via wooden bridge, takes you to Tortonten, where there are several bivouacs caves with excellent campsites.
The walk today follows the riverbank passing the bivouac caves. The path along the right bank of the Simbua Khola is not very high, so head along the mountain flank somewhat higher. Both walls of this valley are thickly, forested with pine and rhododendron. The walk continues through the thick forest, then to gravel ground and walking past this area leads to a shrine with a huge boulder shaped like serpent. As the downhill walk levels near the Ghunsa river, the walk is fairly gradual towards the Ghunsa village. Ghunsa a large Bhotia (of Tibetan descended) community of stone houses and tidy small farm.
Today's walk leads to a fairly strenuous trail that climbs up alongside the river. Several magnificent waterfalls are encountered along the way. Yak herders may be met along the trail depending upon the time of the grazing season. The trail goes from the right bank of the river Ghunsa, through the rhododendron and pine forest, gradually ascending to Rambuk Kharkas crossing a small glacier landslide.
The trek continues with excellent views of Khumbukarna and Janu and other high snow capped peaks. Leaving the tree lines behind, the countryside onwards is more barren with scrub juniper. After Rambuk Kharka, climb through a small forest to cross a large landslide area with a spectacular view of Khumbakarna's north face. The trail goes gentle down to Kangbachen after crossing the landslide. The valley is dominated by Sharphu (7,070m.) just in the opposite, is a huge north face of Mt. Jannu and Wedge peak.
The trail follows above the river for about an hour and heading east, route drops down to the river, then climbs through the boulder path which leads to the terminal moraine of the Kanchenjunga glacier. After leaving Ramtang Kharka (a Sheppard place) the trail meets Kanchenjunga glacier here, crossing the junction at Lhonak and the Kanchenjunga glacier before Lhonak. A great view awaits you of Mera, Nepal Peak and Wedge Peak from Lhonak.
The trail climbs up gently above the river with impressive views of Kirat Chuli, Nepal Peak, Taple Sikhar, and Givegela Chuli. The first part of the climbs is gentle and goes through a boulder trail, walking the trail between grassy slopes and glacier path up to the North base Camp. Herds of blue sheep's can be seen around this area. After spending sometime at the Northern Base Camp, now its time to return back to Lhonak for overnight.
After being on the South & North Base Camp of Kanchenjunga, now its time to retrace the journey back. You will be walking on the same trail with about four hours of walk to Khambachen and from there walk down to Ghunsa Khola to cross on newly built suspension bridge to reach Ghunsa village.
Start your walk by crossing Ghunsa Khola again and walk alongside of the river passing through rhododendron, pine and birch with occasional “Mani Wall” in between to reach Phale after an hour of walk. From Phale, you will come across the landslide and after the passing through, the walk continues through dense forest to reach Gyabla village after 4 hours walk. From here the landscape changes and you will start getting more comfortable after descending down to lower altitude. The walk of further 2 hours from Gyabla Village along the river takes you to Thangam for overnight stop.
The walk today starts on a narrow trail with gradual climb followed by descend of nearly an hour takes you to Sherpa village of Amjilassa. From here descend to Arun River, cross the suspension bridge and walk on the other side of the river with views of waterfalls makes the walk interesting. After crossing another suspension bridge on the same river with about half an hour walk brings to you the final suspension bridge of the day. After crossing this bridge and a further 15 minutes walk brings you to Sekathum.
Last day of your trek, its just a ten minutes walk after crossing a small suspension bridge called “Ranipul” – literally meaning “Queen Bridge” on Tamor river to reach the jeep stand on the other side of the bridge. You will conclude your trek by driving on a dirt road to Suketar, close to airstrip.
