Landing in Kathmandu hits all at once—noisy streets, honking horns, vibrant signs, smells of spices and incense everywhere. Mountains peek faintly in the distance, teasing what’s to come. A warm welcome at the airport, a quick ride to the hotel, and a briefing about the trek. The mountains feel far away, but they’re calling already.

Short flight today to Nepalgunj. The landscape changes completely—flat, dusty, and bustling with markets and traffic. Check into the hotel, rest, and try to get head around tomorrow’s flight into the mountains. Feels like stepping into another world.

Tiny plane, tiny airstrip, huge sense of adventure. Juphal is remote—like the end of the world. From there, a gentle trek along the Bhangeri Khola River to Dunai. Passed small villages, terraced fields, and forests. The air smells crisp, the river sparkles, and by the time you reached Dunai, and feel leaving the modern world behind.

Started climbing gradually. Terraced fields, forests, little riverside paths. Passed a few villages where locals were going about their daily life—curious glances, friendly waves. Tarakot is small, tucked between hills, with mountains all around. Lodge is simple, but the view is priceless.

Up through alpine valleys. Prayer flags started appearing along the trail, and the peaks felt closer now. Laini Odar is quiet, perched on a ridge with views of snow-capped mountains. Felt the first real taste of remoteness—few people, just mountains, and sky.

High-altitude trekking day. Rocky trails, alpine pastures, small streams. The mountains seem endless. Nawarpani is tiny, peaceful, with grazing yaks and people tending their fields. The kind of place where time feels slower.

A bit of a climb, a bit of struggle with thin air, but the landscape is mesmerizing. Dho Tarap is bigger than I imagined, with stone houses and monasteries scattered across the village. The cultural richness hits you—Bon shrines, prayer flags, and the villagers’ lifestyle—it’s like stepping back in time.

No big trek today, just exploring. Walked through the village, visited monasteries, chatted with locals, and soaked in the views. The mountains feel close enough to touch. It’s peaceful and humbling here.

Trail climbs gradually toward Numa La Base Camp. Glacial streams, high valleys, and distant peaks everywhere. By the time we reached camp, the thin air had my lungs working overtime, but the scenery makes it all worth it. Overnight at base camp—cold, but magical under the stars.

Big day! Numa La is the highest point so far. Windy, rocky, thin air, but the views—glaciers, snowfields, alpine valleys—totally breathtaking. Descended to Pelung Tang, a remote little spot, and finally sat down to rest, feeling both exhausted and exhilarated.

Another high pass. Bagala gives views that make you stop every few minutes just to stare. Mountains on mountains, valleys that seem endless. Descended to Dajok Tang—tiny settlement surrounded by rugged peaks. Lodge is simple, but the mountain air is intoxicating.

Finally, Phoksundo Lake! The turquoise water surrounded by cliffs and peaks—it feels unreal. The village of Ringmo is small, friendly, perched on the lakeshore. Spent the afternoon wandering, snapping photos, and just staring at the lake. Overnight at a lodge by the water, under the stars.

A day to breathe and explore. Walked along the lake, visited Bon monasteries, and hiked to viewpoints. The waterfalls, cliffs, and mountains are so beautiful it almost hurts. Met villagers, learn about their lives.

Started descending. Passed streams, villages, alpine meadows. Chhepka is peaceful, same lodge as before, but the trail feels different on the way back. Mountains behind, reflections in every pond.

Forests, terraced fields, rivers. Arrive at Juphal exhausted & happy. Tiny airstrip village feels like a hub of adventure, and it’s strange to feel the mountains slowly slipping away.

Early flights back. Watching the mountains shrink below feels to stay forever. Land in Kathmandu, transferred to the hotel, relax, maybe

A free day to soak in Kathmandu—visited Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Durbar Square, or just wandered the streets. Coffee shops feel fancy after teahouses in Dolpo. Took a deep breath of city life before leaving.

Breakfast, then airport transfer. Leaving with a head full of memories: turquoise lakes, high passes, monasteries, and villages tucked in the mountains. Dolpo feels like a place that stays with you long after you’ve gone.
